AVRIL GREENAWAY

Avril Greenaway is a designer/artist and ocean advocate based in the Coastal town of Bude, North Cornwall. The theme that runs throughout her work is the Ocean both celebrating and campaigning to protect it using many different mediums.

Avril started working with Cleaner Seas Project in 2013 and now runs it using her artwork to create awareness about plastic pollution and climate change.

As well as photography and illustration Avril works in microplastics found on her local beach. The process is laborious, from picking it up, cleaning it and creating pieces from these tiny pieces of plastic 5mm and under.  For some pieces Avril will count and document the different types of plastic, connecting what she has found to the source.  She hopes that this will make a plastic pollution issue that often goes unseen; seen.

Avril donates 2.5% from her work to Cleaner Seas Project.
